I am not sure how the conversation started…..but at lunch today the topic was Sunday. The day was about family, plain and simple. On Sunday everything was closed…….today in our time there isn’t a single day when that happens, even on Christmas day.
Pizza made from scratch is a close second.
A time when love not convenience was put into food. Food tastes so much better when it is made with love being the first ingredient.
Technology has brought us so far and given us so much, but is it a fair trade I wonder?
Do you remember how exciting it was when there was an after school special on t.v. ? Who needs that when you have a 24hr cartoon network? I think a funny experiment would be to put a kid today in front of an old t.v. , how much whining would ensue every time that kid would have to get up and manually change the channel?
Somewhere along the line the importance of family has been lost. Family used to be every Sunday…..how often do you eat dinner with family that doesn’t live in your house? Birthdays, holidays,weddings, and funerals and even then it’s only if you are lucky.
Spray an 8×8 pan with cooking spray
Tear up bread without crust to fully cover bottom
Tear up bacon and cover bread completely
Layer with shredded mozzarella cheese
Layer with 1 small container of tomato-basil feta cheese
Layer with diced tomatoes
Mix 1 1/2 cups of milk with 3 eggs
Pour over casserole
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes *covered*
Uncover and bake for 15 more minutes
Sprinkle with more mozzarella cheese and some parsley
It was pretty tasty if I do say so myself.
