Retail High

The past couple of years at work we have received gift cards instead of cash…..something is better than nothing…right? I usually try and use it for something that benefits us all, for example the one year I bought the food saver system…boring right? Since I am trying to fight myself and my bad body image I decided to use it for some new tops. You can’t be as hard on yourself if you cover your flaws… theory?

I hit Macy’s bright and early (well for me anyway 10:30am) to use my $100.00 in gift cards. This is my loot, 8 shirts, 1 sweater and 1 hoodie…..IMG_0544

Everything that I purchased was on sale, some of it was obscene, I spent a total of $128.86 and saved a total of $418.60. The hoodie and one shirt that was designed to wear with jeans are the only things that would not go with a pair of dress pants. Always looking ahead for a possible career change, clothing included.

I needed new shirts and if they make me perceive myself in a slightly better light than it is a win, win. I hope it isn’t being too selfish but it seems to me that every year I am taking a little more for me when it comes to my needs. My aunt actually gave me a very generous check this year and I was tossing the idea around to use it for an Italian class. Her check is 2/3rds the cost and clearly I lack the discipline to learn the language on my own. If no financial emergencies pop up between now and the 5th of January that’s what I will be doing with the money and my Mondays. She gave the kids gift cards and cash so this really is just for me, I am not dipping into theirs. Why did I feel the need to put that out there? Probably guilt for taking something for myself….it’s a mom thing, maybe?gone_girl_ew

I went and saw Gone Girl today. The dollar theater is now three dollars instead of one, but it is still a deal. I read the book so there were no surprises except for the whoa moment when Ben Afflick bared all in the shower… that was my moneys worth! It’s been a long time since I looked at a naked man and he sure didn’t look like that. The girl pointed out that he buffed up because he is playing Batman….whatever the reason it was worth going to see the movie. If you didn’t read the book than you will enjoy the twist, if you did read the book look for the gratuitous  shower scene and the sarcastic lawyer! I like Go way more in the book…..her casting was excellent but it seems like I was more attached to her in the book…..she was the only character that I liked when I read it. May I also say “holy crap with the oral sex in an R rated movie!!” Geez I didn’t need to see that!

Prude alert….I know……Zia

Now THAT is my kind of shopping! High five, there. Gratuitous naked Ben Affleck shower scene? Awesome! Another high five! Fingers crossed for Italian lessons. 🙂

Mine too! I remember when it wasn’t so rare to get a deal like that.
Yes it was worth the view 😉
I am hopeful, the faster I pay for the class the less likely it will be used on something necessary and no fun! 😄
