Today has been full of pleasant surprises. I have a little more time with my car…thank you US Postal Service for your snail mail qualities and budget cuts. I might be able to get one of the cars that I really liked which is huge, I stress the might. I scored on some great boxes at work…not that I had time to fill them today…..because it was the first day of the writing your family history course that I signed up for.
I really liked the short story course that I took over the summer, it pushed some of my personal boundaries and I have been writing and researching as much as I can in this chaos to prepare for NANOWRIMO this year. This new course speaks to me on so many levels and I have so options. I was so excited when I left…there are so many possibilities…should I do this? or maybe that?. More than likely it will end up being the family history project this year….that’s a start. The teacher gave us a copy of one of his books and before the last class I will get him to sign it and….. I went to school with one of his daughters. It’s a small world in this part of Ohio.
This class is held in a tiny little Ethnic restaurant where I purchased a beef Shawarma wrap, I only managed to eat about a fourth of it….and I ordered the junior size. If you watched the Avengers it ended with them eating Shawarma…..guess what the girl is taking in her lunch tomorrow? Hey, whatever I can do to make the geek in her happy. 🙂
Since it was so hot, I offered to take the kids to the mall, buy them Chick fil a and let them hang out in the air conditioning while I went to my class. The girl said “it’s not that hot”…..it was 84 degrees in the house when I left. The boy wanted to go so I dropped him off. I picked him up around 8:15 which is dark already….where did summer go? When we were leaving I noticed police lights up ahead on my normal route so I figured I would go around to miss any delays. I turned left and there were more police cars that way, the car in front of me was a mega rubber necker and was too curious for my taste. While I was waiting for the car to turn….there were shouts, running, police jumping into the beds of trucks in some tiny car lot….all I could think is “bitch turn already….have you ever heard of a stray bullet?” Thankfully we didn’t hear any shots and I hope everyone is okay….and this is why I don’t like to go to the mall after dark. I’m sure there won’t be anything on the news about this incident…..it could interfere with the profit margins.
Talk about a roller coaster of a day, it was mostly good(one soul sucking patient whose energy was crazy negative and a hot house were the only bad) and I will take it!…..Zia
