Fifteen days later and I am still settling in at the new place. I am trying to be very mindful of what I have and what I am keeping. The purging is still going on….only in smaller doses.
The moving and the purging has been emotional but necessary. I have been saying since the beginning of the year “use it or lose it” some stuff already left and there is some that needs to be used up. I used to have a three shelf book shelf for movies, I didn’t bring it with me. I purged and had it condensed down to two copy paper boxes. Today I purged some more and I took this bag to The Exchange. It’s the same old story $18.00 store credit or $10.00 cash. I took the cash. They didn’t take the whole bag and I’m not sure what to do with the rest of the movies? Goodwill…maybe?
I purchased a decorative box from Michael’s for about the same amount of money from my trade in and it fit them all. I added the Christmas movies to the tv stand since I purged some movies from there as well.
I went from a three shelf book shelf to a decorative box….that’s progress.
The hot water tank went yesterday…always on a Friday. My shower woke me up in a big way today….brrr. It’s still running water, which is more than some people have. We can rough it until Monday….I’m just glad I did a load of scrubs late in the week last week.
I haven’t accomplished much on the home front the last couple of days. Last night was book club and today I went with RD on a camera hop through downtown. Book club is always fun and downtown was a new adventure. The last stop on the hop the bartender made me the best drink….I don’t normally drink the hard stuff but they didn’t have wine and I don’t like beer. This drink is my new Summer favorite! She told me she would buy it if I didn’t like it and of course I loved it.
I want to make this for PT, I know she would really like it. It was a great discovery!
Wednesday I put the herb garden in and a couple Roma tomato plants and an eggplant. It’s not much but it was something and playing in the dirt always makes me feel better.
The cat has become an escape artist since the move. He never tried to leave the old house….not ever. There are chipmunks galore at this house and he pushed out the metal part of the girl’s screen and went onto the roof and leaped. I couldn’t find him the next morning until I let the dog out and I saw him licking his chops by the garage. Now he is always trying to bolt out the door. He sticks pretty close to the house but the road is a busy one, it gives the girl anxiety. I was ready to throw him outside Wednesday night. He was running from window to window yelling and howling…at 4am…it even woke the boy up…..nothing wakes the boy up. I chalked it up to the new moon.
I know what I am making for Christmas presents this year and I want to get started on that and maybe use up my paper making stock. Except for a possible quick trip to the store, I don’t have any plans for tomorrow except to sleep in. I haven’t slept in for quite some time…..Zia
