Go With It….

Today was a great day! Days when I have an Outlander party usually are and today was no exception. There were a few peeps who couldn’t make it due to illness which translates into a whole lot of food left over. I made three recipes from The Outlander Kitchen cookbook http://outlanderkitchen.com/  and a batch of dark chocolate brownies with fresh cranberries and dark chocolate chips. I didn’t even put the brownies out so they will be going to work tomorrow. ML made a gingerbread cake with whiskey infused whip cream which is also going to work tomorrow. KB brought a chocolate torte and wouldn’t take it home with her so eventually it will end up at  work as well.  I will keep the “Bannocks at Carfax Close” and the “Dumplings in Cross Creek”, the “Cheese Savories” are almost gone, they were the biggest hit.  SB brought a roasted red pepper spread as well as pepper butter and cookies. It was way too much food for just the five of us.

Usually I cut the bannocks in little rectangles, I don’t know what made me reach for a juice glass last night? It was easier and they are all uniform, I’ll probably make them that way all the time from now on. The girl likes them so I know they will get eaten. I didn’t even think to take a picture, I’m glade KB took one.

The last five minutes of the premiere….whoa! This was Stephen Bonnet’s first appearance, I forgot how strongly I despise that man! He was cast very well, kudos to the producers for that choice. My favorite line of the episode came from Jamie ” Bees that have honey in their mouth, have a sting in their tale.”

We talked about the Hogmanay party and it looks like it won’t be until after the New Year when we can all get together. My only problem with that? I’m going to have to leave the tree up. I am that person who takes it down the day after Christmas and now I have to leave it up until January 6th. That’s going to be a tough one.

Yesterday the girl and I went to a birthday party. My cousin’s little boy turned one, it was nice party. I wasn’t too sure how it would work out since it was an outside party but they had a tent and heaters, I was never cold. The sun even made an appearance for five minutes or so. My cousin from out of town came in for the party which was a big surprise for me. It was nice to see the family and catch up a little.

I even ordered the family history Christmas project present tonight. I went on to Snapfish to see if the code for free shipping would work with the pillows today and it would not. I have been trying for a couple of weeks. I figured this was a sign that pillows might not be the best gift so I made another project. I think they will be a hit. I’ll show you when they come in.

Ordering a Christmas present or making one at this time of the year is a necessity if you are a maker. It might sound hypocritical that I can’t stand all of the Christmas commercials already. It does NOT go Halloween then Christmas….there’s a big ole turkey in there too. Do not skip the bird!

Today was day one after setting the clocks back….I am not ready for it to be dark at 5:30.  The bear in me wants to hibernate already….Zia
