Sweat it Out

Nineteen dollars well spent today! I used my discounted day pass this afternoon and it was amazing!! I have never been in a sauna before so this was a new experience for me. I would definitely do it again and now I know what to expect and what to bring with me next time.

The first sauna was a traditional one and it wasn’t too bad. I was a little scared when the girl who was my guide came back in and dumped water with rosemary and eucalyptus oils over the coals. It was a pretty intense smell at first but the oils were pure and I was fine. Sometimes my nose…. During this sauna I was joined by a young man in the last five minutes and I was so glad that I opted to wear a tank top and a pair of shorts in lieu of a towel.

The next sauna was the infrared and while it was great…it was a long half hour. I did some breathing exercises and chanting meditations in this sauna. The last seven minutes were the hardest with the last sixty seconds being the longest….I was parboiling! Kudos to my crystal deodorant stick for not failing on me during my melting stage. The next step was a shower and a return to normal clothes for the meditation room. They had these really cool chairs that played music inside the chair so it vibrated with the music. I think I may have dozed off a little during this stage. Then I had some tea and played in the large zen garden before heading out.

It was a great two hours on this March new moon with Mercury going retrograde. I had a few stops that I would have liked to make but I was a melted mess so I came straight home. I did stop at Goodwill before the spa looking for more components for my bird project. I only found one small thing for that and I found a new pair of tennis shoes for $4.00. I don’t usually wear shoes like this but The Girl says they aren’t grandma shoes.

I met a friend around 6-ish to give her the oils she ordered at a little cafe down the street. She just went through teacher training at a snobby yoga studio so I wanted to make sure she met the owner of the cafe in case that opportunity ever presents itself. I learned a lot about her experiences with the other women during this training. We talked about a lot of other things as well. We hung out for an hour and a half or so…I never expected to be there that long. It was nice to catch up and to be around some good energy. She vibrates higher than most people and I could feel my energy vibrating higher after I came home. That is a great feeling to have and an even better start to a new cycle aka new moon…..Zia
