There is only one of me and while I think there are plenty of things to be learned in this life….I can’t learn them all. Today I tackled my bookshelves. It would make sense to be inspired to downsize after last night’s conversation with my cousin’s wife but truth be told, this was on my to do list last weekend, I just never got around to it. I almost just typed “if I’m going to be honest” but caught myself since I over used it in my last blog…..waaay over used it.
I purged quite a bit of books today. If I had to pack up and move tomorrow and could only take so much with me…I would take 50% of the books I have left. Obviously I would take my favorites and my old books, the 50% covers the books that look interesting and I haven’t read yet. I filled a TJ Maxx tote of books that I never got around to reading today. Tucked in my bookshelf was a Halloween card from KW last year. It was a nice surprise and my favorite part of the day.
I also boxed up The House of Night books. This was the first series the Girl read and the only one we read together, it’s also where we got the name for the beagle. I have almost the whole series, we didn’t read the last one or two. I just want to see if I could possibly sell these before I give them away? It’s a thought…
I have a couple other books I might try to sell as well…I’m still thinking about it? The problem with eBay is…most of the people who sell books sell them cheap and with free shipping. I just sent a paperback copy of The Outsiders to my cousin’s wife today and media mail was $2.75. I had the envelope but if I had to buy it than it would add to the cost. How are they selling books for $3.97 and making a profit? My time is more valuable than a $1.00 and I would donate it before I would go through all of that work. I’m tossing around the idea of selling this stack…
I also purged a large bag of Italian books. I will bring them to class tomorrow and hopefully I won’t have to take anything home with me. My Italian learning stack is now ten on the bookshelf. Sadly I never look at any of them…I guess we will see how many make the next cut because there is always a next cut.
I have totes of yarn, totes of wool, totes of fabric, small boxes of rubber stamps, a small tote of paper making supplies, totes of paper, and one container with jewelry making supplies. I will never have time to use all of these materials! I have to let some of this stuff go!
As I look down at the floor to my left at the JoAnn fabrics bag of fabric I “had to buy” last week so I could try my hand at pajama bottoms I am realizing that I am going to have to make myself do this. I have always heard that when you are learning to sew it is best to master one pattern. If I can do that, then not only could I move through some fabric from my stash but I also could be making some Christmas presents. First things first….I have to take the fabric out of the bag…..Zia
