I don’t know Carrie personally but this Girl saved my Christmas. I know I wasn’t Johnny on the spot with my family history Christmas present but I still submitted the order two days before the deadline. I called yesterday and was put on hold for almost thirty minutes and was told that I would receive an email when my project came in. I had to stop in for other things today so when I asked “is there someone over in photo right now?” and the kid looked at me and said “you need to check with customer service.” I thought something was fishy.
I was lucky enough to get the friendliest person in Sam’s Club history working customer service. When she said “they closed our photo department”…you could have knocked me over with a feather. She followed with “we have a list of people who will not be receiving their projects, what’s your last name?” She scrolled down the list and then looked up and said”Zia?” My name was on the list!!! Christmas Eve is in three days, what am I going to do??? It’s not like I can just go whip up another calendar….I spent hours creating that project! I knew it wasn’t her fault and I told her so but that didn’t stop the panic.
I must have looked like I might have a breakdown because she said “let’s just go over and double check” If I would have had the other girl working customer service help me this would have never happened…she has helped me before and isn’t helpful at all. It was a Solstice miracle that I ended up being helped by Carrie. She walked me over to the abandoned photo department where there were boxes everywhere and she looked. Lucky for me…it was there!!!! I was worried that I would have to embellish the months because the big photos I chose kept giving me an error message and the editing tools were awful. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they turned out!
You can barely see the font, I should have made it bigger. I didn’t know and I didn’t want to take away from the pictures. The most important thing is ….that if you are in my family…your face is in the square that is your birthday. I only had a few that were shared and I had to make a choice so hopefully they are well received…..fingers crossed. Thank you Carrie for going above and beyond!!
Today was the only day that L needed me to work at her store so I headed out to her place first thing this morning. There was someone waiting at the door when we got there. My first day…my first sale, and it was a good one. I had no idea where everything was but it is set up in a smart way so it was easy to pick up on the fly. It helped that I know my gemstones. It was kind of fun to be out of my element for a bit. I learned how to change a watch battery….I also learned that dead skin accumulates under watches as well as glasses. At my real job we call it face cheese…I don’t think L had a name for it. It was still gross and required lots of hand washing. Other than that it was a fun experience! It was only for one day and I’m glad I did it!
We had a nice talk on the way home too. Some were my questions about why she picked a jewelry store and some were her words on why I should find a partner. In case you forgot L is the one that gave me the ominous New Years message “don’t be me” a few years back. I told her I still wasn’t interested even though I know I’m not dead yet…and then told her about the cute guy in the kilt at the Renaissance Faire and she told me “go!! find him now…what are you waiting for?!” I don’t get that??? I don’t know anything about that guy except that I was very aware of his existence. Just because he tripped my trigger doesn’t mean that he is good for me….it just proves that I’m not dead yet.
She had some nice things there but I didn’t have anyone on my list that I needed to buy jewelry for…bracelets..etc. She did have a stunning labradorite and rainbow moonstone necklace. It was out of my price range and I always wear my ruby zoisite anyway. I saw a raw ruby today and it makes me wonder if my stone has garnet in it? My stone is way darker than the raw ruby she had in the case. Maybe someday I will know?
PT and I went to a concert this week. We bought the tickets way back in July before we went to Salem. I have always loved Celtic Woman and was excited to see them in concert! They had a great bagpipe player dressed in a full kilt….so not only did I get my bagpipe fix but I got to see a little knee as well. The whole show was amazing! My favorite part was the last song. It started out with the bagpipe player followed by auld lang syne. I figure that is as close as I am going to get to hearing this song live and so close to Hogmanay. One day I will make it to Scotland for Hogmanay….I will make it to Scotland for a lot of things. Hogmanay is pretty close to the top of this list.
The second half of the week was a definite improvement. Dinner with KB must have been the tipping point. Even my gums feel better! I did learn that as long as I rub the clove oil mixed with fractionated coconut oil over my gums before bed, I will only have minimal swelling. Nothing like Monday…thank goodness!
I hope everyone is making or finding everything they need in these crunch times hours before the holiday….Zia
