Once I had a little help and got the serger working properly…it went pretty fast. This project fits right into my kick of reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle. It also made me think…what else can I make with this new handy dandy serger? I have my work peeps saving all sweaters and t-shirts for me. It’s the purging time of year so I want to get them before they start tossing.
I am also 87% sure that I am going to buy a cricut and I want the one that cuts fabric. If I can combine the capability of these two machines….I can make anything! World domination may be a tad exaggerated but that’s how I feel when I imagine the possibilities.
Last year I bought a pair of capri pants to wear to Salem, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt while in Salem and that was it. So basically I went a year without buying new clothes. Now that I know I can do this, it gives me more motivation to stick to the thrift stores. Making something new out of something old is one of my favorite things to do. I am not the best at the sewing machine but I can learn.
I am also really drawn to the handmade journals, especially the fabric covered ones. I almost gave away all of my paper-making supplies last Summer but that didn’t work out. Maybe I was supposed to keep them? I would like to try to make paper out of junk mail first and if that goes well…the possibilities are endless.
Create…that is what 2020 means to me. What can I create next? What can’t I create…..Zia
