As weekends go…this one was okay. I think there were equal amounts of work and play while checking some bigger things off my list. You know me….there’s always a list. I spent the better part of yesterday in the kitchen, after the pool of course.
I experimented with Rutabaga french fries which were not my favorite. Butternut squash holds that title. I have two more to play with, I think I will try roasting next. I finished dinner and took a little nap. Then I made the usual almond four shortbread cookies, almond flour salt and pepper crackers, and almond flour cheez its. I have my snacks for the next couple of weeks. I am trying to get better at trying new foods. I did find a new store bought snack and it’s too early to see if it causes a reaction. It’s called Taali water lily pops, gluten free and soy free so I gave it a try. I tried the regular one with salt only first which tasted great and then I tried the Tikka Masala flavor ….I love this flavor! I have never tasted anything like it! I think it would be great seasoning on other foods so I am on the look out for a good recipe for the seasoning.
If any of you were curious about my last post….here is the update. There is a girl at work who is going through some things. If you take my marriage and merged it with my relationship with the Cockroach it is similar to her life right now. She sent me a text last week that said “I wish I could be more like you.” I sent her one back that said ” I wish you could be more like you, you just need to find her again.” So I was thinking “how is the fastest way I know to connect with self?” Yoga. Because of the virus there really isn’t a place to go and practice. I know a girl who is a great teacher and recently went through a 200 hour program and then a 300 hour program. She had a job at a studio but the studio is now closed. I asked Big K and the the big boss about my idea and both said yes!!!! Now once a week she will come to work after five and lead us in a class. It’s win, win for all of us! I can’t wait!!!
I stopped at a garage sale today and hit it at the right time. Anything I could fit in a bag was $1.00. I found two new men’s dress shirts in a wrinkle free material, a super soft pair of gloves, a pre shrunk wool tank, a pretty cardigan, a Steve Madden backpack purse, and a dresser scarf all for $1.00! I even went back to get the little table for the front porch for $2.00 and a wire plant hanger with birdcage for the front porch for $2.00 and another bag of clothes for $1.00. I spent $8.50 for tons of stuff! The Steve Madden purse and soft gloves the Girl took. The pre shrink wool will either be part of a scarf or part of a blanket. The men’s dress shirts will hopefully be a tunic top or dress. The cardigan will be a shared item between myself an the Girl. She has a lot of opinions for someone who wouldn’t get out of the car.
I am starting to rack up the DIY projects for my vacation in three weeks. Since I can’t go anywhere, I want to upcycle things…it makes me happy. Garage sales have been few and far between for me so I was happy to find so many projects in one spot. Many pictures to follow as soon as I find the time to delete some old ones….Zia
