The Last Hurrah

I think today may be the end of the sun and the leaves… Tomorrow will be cloudy and there is a chance of rain every day next week. Today was my last day to try and capture the peak of Ohio leaves.

My first stop was out to the farm where I buy my eggs. It was a nice day so the Girl and I went back to see the pigs. This guy was a hubba bubba…

It was hard to get a picture of him but at least you can see one of his tusks…he was huge! I know most people don’t like putting a face to their food but it does make a difference and these pastured pigs are raved about in the reviews. I am all about their free range eggs and I have never met an egg that was their equal. You can drive by and see the chickens out in the pasture with the cows on any given day. It does make me nervous since they are so close to the eagle’s nest. I wonder how many birds were snatched up? It is a great place and I’m glad to see it is still surviving in this crazy time.

I had to drop off an essential oil to KW who lives right next to the cemetery where my mom is so the Girl and I stopped. There was something about the light right then so I drove around the cemetery until I found this spot. The light was just right….

I had a reserve ready at the library and the Girl wanted to stop at Macy’s, she is obsessed with waffle blankets and heard they were having a sale. We stopped and the Ralph Lauren blankets were on sale for 65% off. I was not willing to pay $100.00 but $35.00 was a fair price.

We went home after that for a little bit. We had some lunch, the Girl watched some YouTube, and I took a 20 minute nap. Our first stop when we headed back out was the woods where we took a walk and I tried to capture the last of the fall peak. The picture from the cemetery was better than anything I took in the woods. We even came upon another doe in almost the same spot. There was a large hawk that flew by twice but she was too fast for me. I’m glad we went and you know me…I love trying to capture the light.

We left the woods and had a few more places to go before we could go home for the night. I was almost out of hairspray and JC Penney’s had my Sebastian Shaper Plus on sale for $9.99 so I grabbed two. It truly is the only hairspray that holds my hair and doesn’t dry it out. We dropped off a big bag of recycling and then headed to the grocery store. I needed red leaf lettuce and bananas, the Girl needed slightly more for a recipe she was making for her dinner.

The other thing I wanted to talk about was this whole mask thing. You know I am anti mask…this is not a secret. I wear the mask because it is mandated and that is the only reason. When we were at the mall today, the Girl asked to stop into Hot Topic. She was looking at what she wanted and I was browsing in the front of the store. There were two men and a woman who walked into the store without a mask. The young Hot Topic employee informed them that they needed a mask to enter the store. The man who appeared to be in his 50’s said “I’m covered in the blood of Jesus Christ, I don’t need a mask.” What???

I looked at the kid and said “I’m so sorry you have to go through this stuff while you are just trying to do your job.” He proceeded to tell me horror stories of the way people are behaving. I’m sorry…I don’t care who you are…you have no right to treat anyone in that manner. I told the Girl we needed to get out of there. Hot Topic isn’t far from Macy’s but there was anger rippling though the halls of the mall and I wasn’t hanging around any longer so we left.

Everyone is tired of wearing the mask, that isn’t in question. Treating a retail worker poorly isn’t acceptable….nobody should go to work and be threatened. Tensions are high which makes this scary world a bit scarier than usual…..Zia
