Anyone out there good at finding the stillness? I really struggle with this one…I feel guilty when I’m not being productive. Where did that come from? Just kidding….from every media message in the world..duh. I actually did get quite a bit accomplished, I have miles to go but I did get make some headway.
I bottled up this year’s fire cider and I have to say…I am loving the addition of tumeric and thyme. I also made a batch of elderberry recipe and between the two recipes I used a whole pound of raw, unfiltered honey. The kids don’t care for either recipe so I made the elderberry syrup adult this year by adding a 3/4 cup of vodka to the batch to extend the shelf life. It’s very disappointing to feel a cold coming on and to reach for the elderberry syrup only to realize that it has turned into science experiment.
I went through my bottles in the basement…yes, I am a bottle hoarder. I can’t help it, I know eventually I will reuse it. I originally planned to make a big batch of Kahlua to use up some of my empty olive oil bottle stash but decided to infuse some vinegar instead. I think it’s more festive and it has more of a chance of getting used. December 16th will be two weeks and then I can sterilize the bottles and fill them up. Thyme is full of vitamin C and has many other healing properties. Cranberries are good for the immune system among other things. If you add a little raw honey to the infused vinegar as well as some organic extra virgin olive oil…you have a seasonal salad dressing that tastes yummy and it’s good for you. Plus…I will be using up most of my bottles.
I made a big batch of bath salts and then I upcycled some old fruit crates into outdoor boxes. I had the 1/2 gallon mason jars and bought the lights for the jar. I found the garland, decorations, and vintage lights from the thrift store. I had the ribbon on hand. It didn’t cost a lot of money but it did take a lot of time.
Oh, I also bought the old ornaments and pine cones from the thrift store. I made them to be front porch decorations but who knows what they will become after I give them away. Three unique presents for less than $25.00…I hope they like them.
The dehydrator has been busy this week. I did a bag of oranges, some liver for the dog, and I have cranberries on there right now. I am making stove top potpourri again since it was a hit last year.
SB gave me some cute little bail lid spice jars earlier this year…or last year? I am going to attempt peppermint mocha lip scrubs. I know I can make a lip scrub but can I pull off the flavor? I guess we’ll see. I have just enough to make one for all of the front desk girls.
The Boy wants buckeye cookies so I have the dough in the fridge right now. I’ll melt the chocolate and do the dipping but I’m not rolling them into little balls…the Boy can do that part. I’m going to try a new gluten free molasses cookie when I’m done here. Oh…I also made some vampire walnuts today. https://deborahharkness.com/realtimereadingadow-bonus-recipe-ems-famous-vanilla-walnuts/ These are pretty tasty!
I had Spirit Guide sparkles this morning…I know them when I see them. I’m supposed to contact Dolly Parton…seriously? I think it might be easier to contact a passed over spirit? I’m not even a country music fan? Although Dolly lives her life by love and that’s easy to see from way over here. So what’s not to love? I am partial to Bluegrass….something about it stirs my soul…or it’s ancestral, I’m not sure? I have to act on this, I’m just not sure how I’m going to go about it as of yet? I’ll figure it out, I always do….Zia
