My day started around 3am today. I guess I need to fill you in on a little backstory before I continue. Force of Nature Girl gave me a super durable double window bird feeder for Christmas. I attached it to the window Wednesday afternoon. I had to wait until the Girl came home on Friday to see if it was getting any bird action. She didn’t notice anything on Friday.
Last night she noticed that the cat was aggressively looking out the window and when she looked closer she could see a tiny little fluffy ball of a mouse on the porch. She let the dog outside and we didn’t see it again.
So imagine my surprise and annoyance when the mouse made another appearance….at 3am. It started with the sound of the cat pawing at the window and the occasional meow. It steadily intensified within the hour. There were a couple of times I thought the cat might have given himself a concussion but in reality he flung himself at the window with everything he had only to fall off of his chair and hit the floor. I got up to check on him and could see the little mouse sitting in the bird feeder eating away.
I was able to sleep a little bit longer and eventually got up around 7am. Even then, the mouse was outside the window messing with the cat. Once it saw me, it didn’t come back and then I let the dog out…..none of us has seen it since. The Girl took the window bird feeder down, emptied it, and I washed it. Now it will sit empty on my potting bench until the Summer.
The Girl and I headed out early yesterday in hopes of getting everything done, which we did. We were out way longer than normal and we were both done by the time we made it home. The most fun I had was when we left Target and the Girl noticed a cardinal in the bushes. It wasn’t safe to take pictures on the Target side so I drove around to the empty movie theater side and tried to capture this elusive little guy. I never did get a clear shot but I had fun trying.
One of my friends is a Cleveland Indians fan and I have been working on a baseball themed gift. I was looking for a small Chief Wahoo emblem on a shirt for the project, which I never found. I lucked out last year at Goodwill so I thought I would try it again. As soon as we walked into the Goodwill I was instantly drawn to the dress section which is in the opposite direction we needed to be. I ended up leaving with this….
The skirt part is totally salvageable because it fits but the top…not so much. It’s going to need to be made into a two piece. Isn’t it gorgeous??? I paid $9.99 for it and it still has the $399.00 price tag on it. This transformation is above my skill level but I will find someone who will know how to make it. I am so in love with this dress, it’s both magical and meant to be and will make a stunning fairy costume.
Today I finished up most of my making. I made my fist dreamcatcher and my first witch balls. I have a couple more light baskets to make and cookie trays to put together but for the most part I am ready.
Tomorrow KB and I are going to a Solstice sound bath and I can’t wait! I have had conflicting reports on the weather but my fingers are crossed that it won’t be an issue…..Zia
