Mother Nature did all the decorating on this tree. I am guessing it snowed around 8 inches last night? I didn’t go outside and measure but I did measure the dog and where it looked like it was hitting her when she went out this morning. The neighbor across the street cleared my driveway and the driveway next door. We both brought cookie trays yesterday, coincidence? I think not. It’s nice to not have to worry about that for sure. The kids are at their dad’s until Saturday night, so it’s just me, the cat, and the dog.
We went to my brother’s yesterday. Since the cousins all bailed it was just us and my dad and his wife. With the winter storm warning in the picture we decided to move dinner to a late lunch and we went at 1pm. The timing worked out perfectly! We came home, opened presents, made up cookie trays, and delivered them to the neighbors all before the roads started to get bad.
It was nice to get together and I don’t mind the small part either. I was initially upset about not spending Christmas Eve with my aunt and uncle. I was able to spend some time with them on Wednesday which made it a little bit easier. Mark my words…my cousins will use the “covid” Christmas to change their traditions, I don’t see them coming back to my brother’s house.
We normally work 1/2 a day on Christmas Eve, thankfully this year we had it off. Everything worked out perfectly! When leaving work on Wednesday I happened to spot a hawk in a tree. Everyone else had driven right by him. I stayed for a bit and tried to capture a picture or two. It was tricky because it was windy and every time the wind blew, the camera focus changed to the tree. He was moving his head side to side and shaking his tail feathers. I’m not sure if I was irritating him or he was about to pounce on something? He was making me laugh though.
Monday was a pretty great day even though it was too cloudy to see the great conjunction. I was able to see Jupiter/Saturn on the 11th but it has been cloudy every night since then. I am hoping we will be able to see it again, even though it won’t be at it’s brightest….if the clouds ever clear. We left work on time, I came home and the family history project reprint/reship had arrived, and I went to a sound bath with KB. All great things!
All of the years that I have been going to sound baths, I have never once went with someone. I don’t think I have ever really thought about it until that night when one of the owners said “Zia always flies solo.” KB paid for the New Year’s Eve sound bath as my Christmas present so we will do this again next week. I have spent the last couple of New Year’s Eves here and it never disappoints. My brother and sister in law gave me another gift certificate for Christmas…you can never have too much sound therapy.
The kids even bought me a little metal singing bowl for Christmas. I just need to figure out how to make it sing. All in all it’s been a pretty great week! I hope wherever you are you are warm and cozy and feeling as blessed as I do….Zia
