I have heard this week described as “using the brake pedal and the gas pedal at the same time.” I think it’s a fairly good analogy. And the dreams….off the charts bizarre!! I have woken up every morning this week feeling like I had just wrestled a bear. One night I dreamed I wrestled a cat which oddly feels the same. The strangest part is that the dreams all feature people and places that don’t go together which makes it more confusing…
Therefore…I wake up tired and my day follows accordingly. Yesterday was the warmest day of the week. I didn’t have much to do after work, other than dropping off some library books and picking up my new reserves. I thought I would stop by the eagle’s nest since it was nice and I had the time. Sadly there were no eagles. I did get a couple pictures of some smaller birds but that was it.
I came home, did some food prep and then did some scanning and genealogy sharing. One of my new cousin’s shared some information as well. It turns out my great grandfather bought some moonshine….drank it all with a neighbor….had some words…there was an altercation…the neighbor went for his gun….my grandfather was faster… and then the neighbor was dead. I don’t have a date yet, just the newspaper article. I am guessing late 1800’s.
I know I have said it before but it’s just wild! One of my dreams last night told me that it wasn’t about the genealogy…it was about the stories. I understand the part about collecting the stories but that is not an easy task. It’s hard to find people who have the stories. I am excited to share this with my aunt since this is one of our weekends to talk. Maybe I will have new stories to tell?
Thursdays at work are my catch up day…except for this week. Today was crazy busy and not the norm. It fit perfectly with the rest of this crazy week! I did have a moment that made up for it all….
I was driving home and on the road with the double S bends. I went through the first S when I saw something ahead up in the tree. My first thought was “vulture” because of the size and as I got closer I saw that it was an eagle!!! I pulled off as far as I could…which wasn’t very far and put my turn signal on. In retrospect, I should have put on my hazard lights. There were at least 10 cars, maybe more that drove around me and none of them noticed the eagle??? I only took one picture and the whole time in my head my thoughts were “please don’t hit me, please don’t hit me.” Thankfully there was no incident… I only wish I was able to get out of the car and try to capture a better shot. That would have not ended well so I have to take what I an get….
This small glimpse of magic made my week and I am so grateful that it crossed my path….Zia
