None of us got much sleep around here last night, except for the boy…he was fine. I actually started out fine. The Girl walking down the steps to complain about the noisy chick is what woke me up and then I was up for most of the night.
Sometime in the middle of the night, around 4am maybe…I came up with a name for the tiny, day old chick. She is the loudest and the most vocal of the three so I named her Anne Shirley. There was a line from Anne of Green Gables “Oh, she could talk the hind leg off a mule, that’s certain. Wouldn’t that be a change around here?” Marilla Cuthbert She’s still loudly chirping away so Anne Shirley it is.
The Girl hasn’t named hers and we are still going back and forth on the red one. Maybe tomorrow we will have the rest of the names?
The cat is starting to be slightly more chill. He will at least walk by the chicks. Last night he wouldn’t go anywhere near them after his failed attack. He’s still not a fan. The beagle watches him pretty closely. She still needs to smell them occasionally but that’s about it, I think they will get a long nicely when they are out in the yard.
Work had it’s moments today, some more trying than others…but it was still a good day. I was pretty tired and that was my biggest struggle. Now I think it’s time to bond with some baby chickens. Until next time….Zia
